Crossing Borders: Costa Rica and Nicaragua
As I prepare for my third trip to Nicaragua, I found myself again trying to figure out a way to limit received. In this article I will share with you my experience from Playa Grande to know Nicaragua with a budget along with some tips that will help you to Nicaragua should from Costa Rica to decide the head.
Every trip I was taken to Nicaragua and something different yet another adventure. I was lucky enough to first two times, a trip to the border come with the people I avoid traveling to find out in which direction would the cheapest way to get to the border. Of course, there are options for a shuttle or a taxi to the border, but I was on a budget and experience among local buses to the border wanted to save money. If You are in no great hurry, it's definitely a way to go and save some money.
Costa Rica to Nicaragua: So I decided to leave on a Thursday and was lucky to get a ride from Playa Grande to huacas. The bus was close to 10.00 Clock and costs 850 colones (about $ 1.54). Typically, the trip from Liberia to Playa Grande is only about an hour, but because I take the public bus, it took not known about eleven fifty times on the way to get other people at the bus stops in other cities. It took about 2 hours to get to the bus station in Liberia. It may take longer depending on day and time. From Liberia, I had to take another bus to head to separate the border or as they call it "Fonterra." I had happiness, only to wait another ten minutes when the bus showed up. I think she buses that leave every half hour to go to have the border. The cost was 800 colones (About $ 1.45). It took about one and a half hours to get to the border, but as mentioned above it a little longer than this may vary depending on day and time. As soon as I got off the bus, I have to go with the Costa Rican Customs to require my passport stamped, it is necessary. You need to fill out a migration application form that will pass or will they have to fill at the tip of the snake. This is the sheet that you fill out at the level at the input of Costa Rica. You have to walk about 200 meters, while you are checked by a Costa Rican and Nicaraguan border patrol man, make sure the passport has been stamped to the Nicaraguan Customs To enter the building. You can leave your luggage and be prepared. As soon as I enter the customs house I had my passport stamped at Nicaragua. For me it's always seems as if the lines are longer here in all my experiences. You will also notice when you arrive in Nicaragua, you are surrounded by Nicaraguans asked whether you want a taxi, which Money exchange, etc. This can sometimes overwhelming need, especially if this is your first time to speak or not speak Spanish. As I stood in line to get my passport stamped, You get people asking you if you are migrating registration form, which will then serve out to buy. These forms are free, but it is $ 1 to one of the People selling these to get. I usually pay for only one, so I do when I go to the front of the line, so I do not have to waste any time. I was one of local approached to see if I condemn, he wanted some money so he can cut in line and to accelerate the process. I call them defectors, and they always do this to foreigners. I have mixed feelings about this for a few reasons. I gave my passport to a stranger, and he was cutting in line in front of 25 people or so the have to wait there for an hour plus. I've done this before and have been advantageous for a decent amount of money made. In general, they are calculated to do this you $ 10. This time though the runners only be charged me two dollars, which was a business. This is the amount you can negotiate with them. I rescued stand for one hour queue. I would recommend, within 10 feet of them when they go to the front. In addition, there is a $ 7 entry into Nicaragua. Once you have stamped and paid your admission, I decided to take a taxi to San Juan del Sur, which take an hour. This is probably the best choice, plus it is a cheap taxi for an hour. It is not be difficult to find a taxi driver, as there probably are 50 to choose from. I negotiated with my driver and paid $ 25 for my trip. Before we came to his car, had we go through another inspection point, where they check your passport again for the stamp and an additional fee of $ 1 municipal fees. Here is the breakdown of the cost of which is to get to Costa Rica San Juan del Sur.
Bus tours: $ 3
Migration registration form (Nic): $ 1
Occurs in Nicaragua: $ 7
Pay costs for the runners, stamped to get cut in line pass: $ 2
Municipal Ticket: $ 1
Taxi: $ 25
Total: $ 39
Nicaragua Costa Rica: I at the time and day with the taxi driver when I was picked to be coordinated on my return from San Juan del Sur. The fee was $ 25 again. Once you come to the border you have to pay a $ 1 for the municipal ticket. You then need to get an exit stamp in your passport at the Nicaragua's customs house. I decided to stay in line and not pay a runner cut in line. I paid $ 1 to get my immigration application form, so I fill could, if I were standing in line. The redemption fee is $ 2 for Nicaragua. I then went back across the border checkpoints of Nicaragua and Costa Rica went then to get to Costa Rica Customs building on my entry stamp in my passport. There is no cost to enter or leave Costa Rica. I then waited for half an hour by bus from the border to Liberia, the cost and duration. I'm from Liberia to Tamarindo on the bus, which stops in huacas, the cost and duration. I then got a Ride from a friend of mine from Huacas to Playa Grande. Here's the breakdown of the costs of getting to Playa Grande, Nicaragua, Costa Rica.
Taxi: $ 25
Municipal Ticket: $ 1
Nicaraguan Redemption fee: $ 2
Bus tours: $ 3
Total: $ 31
