who makes the very best quality coffee machines as far as preparing ground roast coffee goes? the reason why?
i’m asking is because i want a very high quality machine to make an extremely strong cup of hills brothers ground roast coffee, i made an experiment. one day i bought some folgers classic roast ground coffee and put 5 scoops and was awake like 18 hours, later i did the same with the hills brothers classic roast and put also 5 scoops but was only awake like 12 hours, why a slight difference if hills bros ground coffee was original blend but the same amount on a mr. coffee machine? i want a machine that will make the strongest cup of ground coffee with even lower case brands such as hills bros, mjb, chock full o nuts, ect…
Lower brands of coffee use Robusta beans. They are stronger (bitter) and have 2x the caffeine of Arabica beans used in the better quality (better tasting) coffees.
That said, most auto drip coffee machines can’t get the water hot enough for proper extraction. I use a Chemex manual drip. You just pour almost boiling water over the grounds & it makes the best drip coffee I’ve ever had. If you want stronger tasting coffee, use a French press. They’re cheap & you have lots of control over the strength of the brew.
Espresso is stronger, but a good machine starts @ $700+. There are cheaper, but I don’t think they’re worth it. If you want espresso, but don’t want to spen that much money, buy a stove top Moka pot, it’s how Italians make their daily espresso. All you need is a stove & it does all the work & a strong cup of coffee.
One mistake many people make is they think putting less coffee in the device (whatever it is) will make a milder cup. You should always use the right amount and add hot water later to weaken it, if that’s how you like it. In espresso that’s called an Americano.
Also, an auto drip machine (as well as a Moka pot) is only good for making a full pot, less grounds & less water just makes everything worse. The French press can be used @ smaller doses as needed.
