People in Trade UK – Obnoxious Smelling Carpet Glue – is this Toxic?
Carpet glue with extremely strong odour, carpet being laid on ground floor in old building converted to flats, can smell odour on 4th floor through closed doors.
People who have a fair idea in these matters could you advise me if this carpet glue is likely to be toxic to residents?
Can’t seem to find contact email for COSHH re workplace, not sure if this will cover people living in privately rented flats.
Do you think the Environmental Health people at the local council will be bothered to investigate the matter? For UK residents.

Carpet adhesives are mainly water based. The smell can be quite strong if there is poor ventilation. Once the glue has changed from wet to tacky (dried) the smell should subside. I’d very much doubt anything toxic was used! It is probably impossible to get hold of anything that would seriously damage your health nowadays!
